Thank you for choosing to be a part of our birth experience.

We intend to have a completely natural childbirth, surrounded by loving, caring individuals that we have carefully selected.The following people have been invited to participate in the event:

We may add people to the list as we get closer to the event.However, if others ask, or come to the door, or phone, they should be asked nicely to please leave their names and we will contact them at a later time to meet the new arrival.

We are giving birth here in our home.We invite you to make yourself comfortable here.We will be too occupied to be good hosts, so feel free to poke around in the fridge, the linen closet, or other places in the house to find things you need or that ParisAnne asks for.

We will likely designate a quiet area where ParisAnne will go if she wants to be alone by herself or with specific people.We ask that you respect this area and do not enter the quiet area unless specifically invited by ParisAnne.

What we need to ensure a comfortable birth experience

We are well trained and educated in natural childbirth techniques. We would prefer to receive suggestions or helpful advice only from our primary midwife and primary doula.
We intend to deliver our child without the use of anaesthesia of any kind.We thank you for your support and encouragement in this endeavor.
ParisAnne is the queen and her word is a command. If she asks for something, it is your duty to comply.
Nick intends to “catch” the baby
We have chosen not to know the sex of our child before birth. When the child is born, Nick and ParisAnne would like to announce the sex of the baby themselves.
We will have a birthing tub and ParisAnne will likely wish to deliver while squatting in the tub.
In the case that the baby is a boy, we will not perform circumcision
We would prefer to administer vitamin K orally ourselves, so no injection will be required at birth.
We will administer any necessary eye ointment or other medications ourselves after the hubbub of the birth experience has subsided.
The birth is a joyous occasion for mother and baby to bond, and we ask that the baby and mother not be separated for any reason.
We will cut the umbilical cord only when it has turned white and/or stopped pulsing.

In the event that a transfer to a medical facility is unavoidable

We would like our midwife and doula to be present to assist and advice us at all times.
We require complete informed consent at all times. Please do not perform any medical procedure without our consent.
We prefer to avoid the use of a fetal monitor unless the health of the baby or the mother are severely threatened by its lack.
We prefer a natural tear to a surgical episiotomy.
